Why We Exist

On September 10, 2009, Callie Cole pitched one of the greatest games of her life for Brookhaven Academy's Softball Team.  On her way home from the game, Callie had a tragic accident only five miles from her home.  From this accident, Callie received head trauma causing her to slip into a coma.  After a seven week stay at the University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, Callie was transported to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia.  In Atlanta, Callie received the best treatment and therapy available for her type of injury.  Callie stayed in Atlanta roughly two months before returning to her home in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi.  At home, Callie saw remarkable improvement.  She recovered to the point of being able to communicate as well as reviving some of her motor skills.  In early July of 2010, Callie returned to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia to receive further therapy.  After another three month stay in Atlanta, Callie returned home.  She now continues her therapy surrounded by the encouragement of her family and friends.

Throughout Callie's recovery, many friends of the Cole family have asked what they could do to help.  One individual by the name of Jamie Gatlin felt led to create a missions organization in her honor.  Callie had hoped to travel with Jamie and her mother on a mission trip to Honduras in 2010.  Since Callie is unable to go on a mission trip at this time, Callie's Mission was created to assist high school and college students participate in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in her honor.  We have seen Callie slowly awaken from her coma and hope she will one day be able to travel abroad spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ herself.  But until then, we seek to assist others to go spread the good news of salvation in her honor.
